In 2000, Thomas was picked in the sixth round of the [[2000 NFL Draft]] by the [[Baltimore Ravans]]. In his rookie (2000) season he just played in three games and made one special teams tackle. The following year, 2001, Thomas became more of a contributer to the Ravens defense as he played in 16 games and made a total of 37 tackles and 3.5 sacks while also becoming a valuable special teams player. In 2002, Thomas, starting twelve games at defensive end (he played in all sixteen games) basically repeated his 2002 production with the exception of adding a new static for him, interception, of which he had two in 2002. In 2003, he missed some playing time due to injury's, but he still managed to set a have a productive year both as a defensive player (43 tackles, 4 sacks) and was named the AFC's Pro Bowl Special Teams Player. Thomas set a new record for himself in 2004 as he started in all sixteen of the Ravens regular season games. As a key part of one of the NFL's top defenses, he made 72 tackes, eight sacks, four forced fumbles and one interception. His eight sacks were second best total on the team for 2004. In 2005, he once again started all sixteen of the Ravans games and made 84  total tackles, nine sacks and two interceptions including one that he returned 20 yards for a touchdown in the Ravens 16-15 week  thirteen victory over the [[Houston Texans]]. In 2006, Thomas started all sixteen games and for the first time in his career was named to the AFC Pro Bowl Team as a outside linebacker. He made 11 sacks in 2006, the second best total on the Ravens defense that was ranked number one on the entire National Football League.
