Penn scheduled on January 31, 2009.  There has been some controversy surrounding the upcoming fight because Penn, who is the reigning Lightweight champion, does not have to put his belt on the line for this fight since the match will take place in the Welterweight division.  St-Pierre supporters contend that he has much more to lose from this fight, while Penn has nothing to lose. However, this situation complies with MMA rules and GSP has not mentioned this as an issue at all.
