The first Gameboy was released in 1989, and it quickly became very popular. It had a black and white screen, and it was about [inch|4'x 7']]. Around 1994 the [[GameBoy Pocket]] was released: roughly 3' x 5'. In 1996, a slightly larger [[GameBoy Color]] came, allowing color in a hand-held game system for the first time. About 1999 or 2000 the [[GameBoy Advance]] came, with a new shape, better sound and picture, and new games. However it really wasn't that much better and about 2 years later the [[GameBoy Advanced SP]] was released. This had an innovative folding design, a quality LCD screen with back light, and a rechargeable lithium battery. This was a truly advanced GameBoy. Right now, Nintendo's claim in the portable gaming system market is in the Nintendo [[DS]] (2005).
