Creation may have two meanings. It may refer to that which has been created, i.e. Mark 16:15, “Preach the Gospel to the whole creation,” or it may refer to the moment or process by which [[God]] created, i.e. [[Genesis]] is the creation account. This article deals with the second meaning.
Different groups have different views on creation. [[Young Earth Creationists]] take the Genesis creation account literally and believe that over six 24-hour days, God separately created each creation mentioned. They also consider the list of [[patriarchs]] in the [[Bible]] to be generally accurate, without missing lists or gaps, and so they consider the earth to be a mere 6000 years old, thus “Young Earth.”
[[Old Earth Creationists]] may believe in the separate creation of each creature (their views are more varied), but also take the [[creation week]] as an allegory and embrace the billion-year-old [[earth]].
Theistic evolutionists accept the billions-year-old earth and believe that evolution occurred, but that it was God’s means of creation.
Atheistic evolutionists attribute evolution to chance, natural selection, and survival of the fittest, accept the billions-year-old earth, and avidly reject a young earth model.
