A '''short story''' is a literaery form, a piece of [[prose]] [[fiction]] that is short in length (shorter than a [[novella]] or a [[novel]]). Although the short story is currently out of fashion, many eminent authors have composed them, including [[Ernest Hemingway]], [[James Joyce]], [[P.G. Wodehouse]], [[Katherine Mansfield]], [[William Trevor]], [[Charles Dickens]] and many others. The author [[Damon Runyan]] is known for his humorous short stories.
