It became divided into the Scottish counties of [[East Lothian|East]] and [[West Lothian]] and [[Midlothian]] until [[Margaret Thatcher]]’s administrative disturbances in 1973. Today, the region is divided into those three administrative districts plus [[Edinburgh]].
