Both terms occur frequently in all kinds of literature. "Mathematical Expectation" is perhaps the more official math term, but "Expected Value", "Expectation Value" all occur frequently. : I get around 750,000 google hits on ("expected value" AND probability) with 140,000 google hits on ("expectation value" AND probability). Clearly expectation value is used much more often than I had anticipated but expected value does seem more popular. [[User:AndyJM|AndyJM]] 10:16, 19 January 2009 (EST)
