Snowdonia is a mountainous region of North Wales in the [[Great Britain|UK]]. It is named after its highest mountain (and the highest mountain in [[Wales]]), [[Mount Snowdon]].
Like much of [[Wales]] its former economy was based around the [[mining]] industry. After the mining decayed following the the failure of the politically-motivated [[miners strike]] much hardship was felt. Recently however manufacturing has received a boost from several high-profile international projects, most notably the watertight roof sections for the viewing cars of the [[Eurostar]] and the wings for the new [[Airbus]] [[A380]].
