The '''George Washington Bridge''' is the fourth longest suspension bridge in the U.S. It spans the [[Hudson River]] and connects Manhattan with Fort Lee, New Jersey. The bridge has 14 lanes of traffic (8 on the upper level, 6 on the lower) and is considered one of the world's busiest bridges. The bridge opened for traffic on October 25, 1931 and is 4,760ft (1,451 m)long. The George Washington Bridge is a toll road when traveling eastbound (heading into Manhattan from New Jersey) and makes about $1 million each day from tolls, which vary depending on type of vehicle and time of day. Pedestrians can cross along sidewalks for free.
