The disciples probably did the same. In the Acts of the Apostles Peter said that nothing impure or unclean had ever passed his lips. Exemptions from the kosher laws came in the Acts of the Apostles. Jesus lived under third world conditions. The Jews of Israel had to keep livestock on land that is too dry for farming. Third world people can’t afford feed useless animals till they die of old age or disease. Then the meat would often be unfit to eat.
