A particular source of controversy is a feature called "Fatality", where the winner of the combat ruthlessly executes his opponent in a gruesome fashion that varies with the performing character.  The controversy was addressed directly in the sequel, which introduce "Friendships."  Instead of executing the opponent, the character would juggle, give them ice cream or other similar actions.
