1. To me, Classical India is a more intriguing subject of study than Classical China. The self-preserving nature of the Indian religion and companion political structure assist India to particularly stand out in the context of ancient history. The flexibility of doctrine, accompanied by the inflexible bulwark of the Caste System, has enabled Hinduism to survive well past the average lifespan of most pagan religions.

2. Despite the fact that Hinduism is a forever renewing and self-preserving religion, it is not known for brilliant exploits in the field of evangelization. The same traits that when viewed in an introverted sense make for a durable religion become a considerably less impressive when viewed in a more extroverted capacity. Whereas as elasticity in doctrine might be compelling in self-defense, it is a far less forceful concept when applied in an assertive fashion. Moreover, the Caste System is not exactly a good selling point for use on potential converts.

3. This is the Yin and Yang symbol. The sides represented, Yin and Yang, denote a philosophically observed concept of a dualistic quality in nature. Contrary to the Western perception of struggle, Yin and Yang are actually indicative of the harmony between the intertwined forces of nature: Yin is to Yang, as feminine is to masculine, as dark is to light, and so forth.

4. Numerous aspects of the Hindu religion have served remarkably in facilitating its survival, two points coming immediately to mind. First, the flexibility of Hindu doctrine naturally tends to diminish the effects of foreign persuasion as it ultimately just adopts whatever religious concepts it encounters and incorporates them into itself seamlessly. Second, the idea of the Caste System, particularly in relation to reincarnation, has the ability to keep not only itself alive but a certain class of people in power, whereby including a self-serving incentive to those who uphold it. The religious system is so nearly flawless in both planning and execution that it has had a firm grip on India ever since its first implementation several millennia ago.
