::Wait! There's more. A Kushan Empire straddled north and eastern Persia and Afghanistan for one or two centuries. When I came across "Kingdom of Kush" that is what I first thought of. Nothing to do with our Nubian friends. I know it from maps and I remember references to it in info about the Silk Road but don't know a lot about it. Yet.
