Orval Hobart Mowrer (1907-1982) was a professor of psychology at the [[University of Illinois]] (1948-1975). He is remembered in part for his anti-modernist Christian-friendly views and his disappointment in the modernist movement that found in the mainline [[Presbyterian]] Church; see his book ''The Crisis in Psychiatry and Religion'' (1961).
