Line 1: − + − De vie et de lumière − − French Painting is considered among those most important and has an interesting history. The first manifestations of French painting are given in the prehistoric art and with the Roman epoch with some murals. In the Middle Age there are also some important murals and Gothic stained glasses; in the Renaissance Italian models are followed. It will be until Century XVII, with Poussin like its best exposing and Lorraine, that French Baroque painting reaches an important place. Century XVIII brought the Rococo, and it is Century XIX, precisely, that of the great French painting. In Century XX there also are important demonstrations but without reaching the splendor and the fame of the previous years. − − == Schools and movements== − − * Rococo − * Neoclassical − * Romanticism − * Realism − * Impressionism − * Pointillism − * Fauvism − * École de Paris − * Postmodernism − − − − Clear − − == Painters == − − − − {| class="wikitable" − |- − | − * Jean Clouet − * Jean Le Clerc − * Claude Deruet − * Nicolas Poussin − * Claude Lorrain − * Eustache Lesueur − * Charles Le Brun − * Hyacinthe Rigaud − * Jean-Baptiste Siméon Chardin − * Jean-Antoine Watteau − * François Boucher − * Joseph Marie Vien − * Jean-Honoré Fragonard − * Jacques Louis David − * Nicholas Monsiau − * Antoine Jean Gros − * Jean Dominique Ingres − * Alexandre-Évariste Fragonard − * Théodore Géricault − * Eugene Delacroix − * Auguste Mayer − * Jean-François Millet − * Theodore Chasseriau − * Gustave Courbet − * Alexandre Cabanel − | − * Puvis de Chavannes − * Eugene Boudin − * Adolphe William Bouguereau − * Camille Pissarro − * Edouard Manet − * Edgar Degas − * Pierre-Auguste Cot − * Jean-Paul Laurens − * Paul Cezanne − * Claude Monet − * Pierre-Auguste Renoir − * Frédéric Bazille − * Benjamin Constant − * Paul Gauguin − * Maximilien Luce − * Georges Pierre Seurat − * Paul Signac − * Henri Toulouse-Lautrec − * Henri Matisse − * Georges Braque − * André Lhote − * Marc Chagall − * Maurice Boitel − * Claude Verlinde − |} − − == Petite gallerie == − − <center> − − <gallery perrow="5"> − − Image:Recamier David g.jpg|Neoclassical:<br> Madame Récamier, Jacques Louis David − Image:Delacroix Niches area in the palace of the Sultans of Meknes..jpg|Romanticism: <br>Niches area in the palace of the Sultans of Meknes, Eugene Delacroix − Image:Jean-Baptiste Siméon Chardin.jpg|Realism: <br>Jean-Baptiste Siméon Chardin − Image:Signac La Calanque.jpg|Pointillism:<br> La Calanque, Paul Signac − Image:Matisse, Open Window, Collioure.jpg|Fauvism: <br>Open Window, Henri Matisse − </gallery> − <gallery> − Image:Chagall Bateau-Mouche with Bouquet.jpg|École de Paris: <br>Bateau-Mouche with Bouquet, Marc Chagall − Image:Verlinde marottes.jpg|Postmodernism:<br> Marottes, Claude Verlinde − − </gallery> − <gallery> − − Image:Courbet Bonjour Monsieur Courbet, 1854.JPG|Bonjour Monsieur Courbet − Image:Ingres Mme Moitessier.jpg|Mme Moitessier, Jean Dominique Ingres − Image:Degas The Star.JPG|The Star,<br> Edgar Degas − </gallery> − <br><br> − − − Impressionism: Monet painting in his garden in Argenteuil, Renoir. − − </center> − − ==See also== − − *National painting − *Gallery of French Masterpieces − *Famous French paintings − *Painting Galleries − Clear − − == External links == − − *FRENCH PAINTING OF THE 19TH CENTURY − *Famous French Artists − *French Painting Originally Published Early 1900's − − In French: − *Peinture française Musée du Louvre. − *Salon des Artistes Français − *Salon des Indépendants − *La peinture française L'histoire de la peinture. − − − −
