In [[Greek mythology]] '''Circe''', was the daughter of the sun, and a sorceress known for her ability to turn men into animals. She was the daughter of [[Perse]] and [[Helios]], and the mother of the sun-goddess [[Aega]].
She is best known for turning Odysseus' men into pigs when they landed in Aeaea, and for poisoning [[Scylla]], turning her from a [[nymph]] into a fearsome sea-monster.
Circe also used her powers of spiritual purification to purify the [[Argonauts]] after the murder of [[Apsyrtus]]. <ref>"Circe." Encyclopedia Mythica from Encyclopedia Mythica Online.<http://www.pantheon.org/articles/c/circe.html>[Accessed March 23, 2009]. </ref>
