While attending the [[University of Tulsa]] Mills played tight end, fullback, H-back and backup long snapper. He was generally know as one of college footballs best tight ends during his playing time with the Tulsa Golden Hurricane's. In his 2005 senior season he broke the [[NCAA]]tight end record for receiving yards in a season when he had 87 receptions for 1,235 yards. Also in his senior season he was named an All American by ESPN.com, Sports Illustrated.com and CBS SportsLine.com. In the 50 games he played at Tulsa he had 201 receptions for 2,389 yards and 23 touchdowns. He started 33 of those 50 games.... Caught a pass in 40 straight games.
