"Ignorantia juris non excusat" is a Latin legal term that means "Ignorance of the law is not an excuse." This means that persons who violate the law cannot claim ignorance as an excuse for why they committed a crime. Persons Individuals are presumed held to laws they may not have knowledge of, becuase a legal system that binds to know the lawonly those that have studied it cannot be effective.
