: I wholeheartedly agree.  The Separation of Church as State is a large, complex issue with a long history and many different motivations.  The original separation of Church and State (that I know of, could be an earlier case) was when the Catholic Church extricated itself from the Roman government as the Roman empire went into decline.  This separation was done to ensure longevity in the Church and to distinguish Church doctrine from Imperial law.  - [[User:Sardonac|Sardonac]]
