Gifford has been married to famous former [[NY Giants]] star player and former ABC television football announcer [[Frank Gifford]] since 1986. The couple has two children together. Raised in a [[Jewish]] household, Gifford embraced [[Christianity]] at age 12. Her brother is [[evangelical Christian]] [[pastor]]. Gifford credits her Christian faith with getting her through troubled times in her life. One of those difficult times involved an extra-marital liaison pre-arranged by editors of the ''Star'' tabloid against Gifford's husband, in 1997, that was caught on tape and made public for at least the purpose of personal embarrassment, if not extortion. The Giffords' marriage weathered this difficult time.
