The discussion about stars is completely inaccurate. I would greatly appreciate to see the information this was based on. Until then let me impart this. Fusion can occur as 2 helium atoms fuse together. Infact this process can be repeated until the final result which is iron. As the life of a star continues this iron core grows. In some cases it is so massive that it collapses in on itself to form a neutron star. However it can collapse fully to a singularity (or black hole). These collapses are usually accompanied by a very large explosion, or supernova. In any case a star is a giant gas ball of nuclear reaction. That is the very definition of unstable.
