'''Norman Lear''' (b. 1922) is an American television producers known for his comedy shows that were popular in the 1960s and 1970s, such as "All in the Family" (1971-79).
In 1981, Lear founded [[People For the American Way]], a liberal organization that aggressively promotes secularism and tries to discredit Christian political activity. In 2007 the organization had a budget of $13 million, mostly raised by diorect mail, which it used to organize local chapters around the country, especially in university towns.
