I don't really believe it's a stereotype, but American Jewish politicans and community leaders are known to participate in issues regarding diversity, tolerance and multiculturalism. The Jewish experience with hatred and persecution could had developed such an interest in the American Jewish community for other minority groups such as African Americans, women's liberation (a large percentage of feminists like Betty Friedan and Gloria Steinem is Jewish) and the Gay rights cause, though it depends on the person's own views and what sect of Judaism has beliefs about homosexuality. After the Sept. 11 attacks, the ADL was protective of Arab-Americans and Muslims in the USA from being verbally attacked, discriminated and defamed in ways similar to the Nazis' own anti-Jewish agenda leading up to the Holocaust.
