rollback communism & terrorism = foreign entanglements
::::The irony is that leftists like Chomsky use this "anti-imperialist" argument only against the United States, while tolerating or even lauding so-called "liberation" movements like the [[NLF]] and their foreign supporters like the [[Soviet Union]]. Typical [[liberal hypocrisy]]. --[[User:Ed Poor|Ed Poor]] [[User talk:Ed Poor|Talk]] 10:35, 24 December 2009 (EST)
:::::Ed Poor is right. As for the Monroe Doctrine, it should be mnentioned and I will add it. As for George Washington's warning against foreign entanglements, that was the proper position for a small, remote country with a weak military in a hostile world in the 1790s but conditions certainly change and the US is not small and remote and weak anymore. "no foreign entanglements" has pretty well been reversed by people like Reagan and George W. Bush and their policies around the world (esp their enormous effort to [[rollback]] communism & terrorism.
