Alan S. Blinder (b. 1945) is a Princeton University economist who advised Democratic candidate [[John Kerry]] during the 2004 presidential campaign. He also served as a former Federal Reserve Board vice chairman and may aspire to become Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve under a Democratic Administration.

In 2001, he wrote, "Like 99% of economists since the days of Adam Smith, I am a free trader down to my toes."<ref>http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB117500805386350446-cRRynUb3zQgR2Yxn8wFOt96EOlE_20070404.html?mod=blogs</ref>

In 2006, he began taking the opposite position as Democratic candidates capitalized on the workers hurt by outsourcing from states like Pennsylvania. Professor Blinder began predicting that up to 40 million American jobs were at risk of outsourcing, more than twice the manufacturing jobs in America. Mr. Blinder declared that this is "only the tip of a very big iceberg."<ref>''Id.''</ref>
