'''Melinda French Gates''' is the former [[Microsoft]] manager who married [[Bill Gates]]. Reportedly a [[Catholic]] while [[Bill Gates]] is a self-described [[atheist]], Melinda Gates became influential in the [[Gates Foundation]] around 2001 and exercised considerable control over its grant decisions between 2002 and 2006. During that period the [[Gates Foundation]] stopped giving unrestricted money to domestic [[abortion]] groups.
The [[Gates Foundation]] restructured in 2006, ending daily control by Melinda Gates. In January 2007, it began giving to abortion groups again.<ref>See [[Gates Foundation]] and [http://www.gatesfoundation.org/AboutUs/Grants/Grant-47811.htm Grant example]</ref>
