On the morning of March 23, 2010, United States President Obama signed the countries first universal health care bill into law, after it was passed by the Democrat-controlled U.S. House of Representatives 220 to 212. The bill is expected to extend coverage to 32 million Americans, and will ban will insurance companies from denying coverage to people with pre-existing medical conditions.
