The movie perpetuates the myth that exposure to cold weather causes illness. Early in the movie, Helen "[[catches cold]]" in the rain and must recover in a hospital. Later, locked out by her drunken husband in winter, she walks to her sister's house with only a dress on, and catches [[pneumonia]].
