I found some refs that stated the Jewish religion follows the soul at birth, and therefore abortion wasnt an issue at all. If one assumes the early christian church followed jewish law then it becomes more significant. Its interesting that the Catholic church did not require(allow?) church services for misscarriages or stillborn infants, I dont know if thats still the case.
