Dino Rossi has stated a need to reform the current tax code, and he will lower taxes to promote economic growth and job creation. He believes, according to the Dino Rossi for Senate website, that in order to get the economy back on track and get people back to work, the recently raised taxes by Congress to pay for massive increases in government spending must stop. Rossi said that Congress must make permanent the 2001 and 2003 tax relief which spurred economic growth and job creation, repeal the [[death tax]], and lower the tax rates paid for by job creators: "The problem isn’t that taxes are too low; it’s that spending is too high."<ref name=issues/>
