'''José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero''' (Born, August 4, 1960) has been is the leader current Prime Minister of [[Spain]] since 2004. He took office on April 17th, winning 2004 following the election in the aftermath surprise victory of the [[Madridsocialist]], [[liberal]] terrorist bombings and a desire of the voters for change. He is a member of the PSOE (Partido Socialista Obrero Español(PSOE)in the 2004 general elections, a based on his promise to withdraw Spanish troops from Iraq, where they had been support the US in The War Against Terror. Three days before the election, the [[socialistmuslim]] political party, [[islamist]] [[terror]] group [[Al Qaeda]] bombed the Madrid Cercanias network, murdering 191 people, an event which played into the hands of the [[liberal]] anti-war groups at the polls.
In 2005 Zapatero has legalised [[gay marriage]], and attempted to [[censor]] history by destroying statues of [[Francisco Franco]], a former dictator, and changing street and station names in Madrid. In 2007 he passed a law allowing transgender people to alter their identity documents to conceal their birth sex.
