Different groups have different views on creation.  [[Young Earth creationists]] take the Genesis creation account literally and believe that over six 24-hour days, God separately created each different aspect of creation mentioned ([[Earth]], [[sun]] and [[moon]], plants, etc.).  They also consider the list of [[patriarch]]s in the [[Bible]] to be generally accurate, without missing lists or gaps, and so they consider the earth to be 6000 years old, thus “Young Earth.” 

[[Creation science]] investigates how God brought the [[earth]] and [[universe]] into being. [[Young Earth Creationism|Young Earth Creationism]] proves that the earth is [[Counterexamples to an Old Earth|approximately 6,000 years old]]. [[Old Earth Creationism]], like [[atheism|atheistic]] [[junk science]], claims that the earth and universe are billions of years old. [[Old Earth creationists]] may believe in the separate creation of each creature (their views are more varied), but also take the [[creation week]] as non-literal and embrace the idea of a billions-of-years-old [[earth]] (Old Earth).

They include "progressive creationists", who reject evolution and instead believe that God progressively created over the millions of years believed by evolutionists.

 

[[Theistic evolution]]ists accept an old Earth and believe that evolution occurred, but that it was God’s means of creation.
