Changes

The village is the next to last stop on the Esk Valley Railway to/from [[Middlesbrough]] before the line comes to an end at Whitby. The level crossing leading in and out of the Station is connected almost directly to a railway bridge going over the river.

The River Esk (the Yorkshire version - there's several in the UK with the same name) also passes through it, on its final stage through the [[Estuary]] leading into Whitby [[Harbour]] and out into the [[North Sea]].  The main species to fish for in it being [[Salmon]], [[Sea Trout]] & [[Brown Trout]] (all methods allowed).

For a long time, the village's main industry was provided by Ruswarp Mill, but that closed down between 1988 and 1990, and has since been converted into apartments.
