According to Jesus and the authors of the Bible and, according to modern behavioral science, war and other human oppression arises from what is within people. Modern science evidence agrees with Jesus and Paul, that what causes greed, hatred, prejudice, murder, rape, theft, deliberate deception, slavery, war and other human oppression is a "result" of what the Britannica calls "the seething mass within" and, what the Bible calls "sin". Changing terminology in no way, shape or form, changes the reality of human oppression.
The Crusades, like every other war, were clearly fought over wealth. Wars are invariably about the taking and protection of wealth. Popes, kings and nobles literally bribed both leaders such as Richard Lion Heart and common foot soldiers, with much promises of "booty", rape and pillage, if they would attempt to retake what Muslim invaders had previously taken from them.
No follower of Jesus would ever support wars like the Crusades or, any other war instigated by either the United States, England or any other nation. As Jesus very clearly taught, the solution to war is to lay down our swords. Jesus remains correct regarding the solution for war and other human oppression, while Christians who support wars remain obvious liars. And likewise, atheists and other modern intellectuals who pretend belief in God "causes" war, remain obvious liars, completely devoid of the most basic known facts of history and behavioral science. All of the know evidence very clearly agrees with Jesus and Paul; war arises from what is within us all and, the correct and only solution to war, is to lay down our swords, something easily grasped by a small child or anyone else who is honest regarding the known historical and scientific evidence.
