On 27 April 1983, I. Juhász, archaeologist of the Szarvas Museum discovered a bone needle case near the town of Szarvas (Hungary).<ref>Juhász, Irén (1983): Ein Avarenzeitlicher Nadelbehälter mit Kerbschrift aus Szarvas. In: Acta Acheologica 35 (1983), 34.</ref>  On the needle case, there is a magical inscription from the second half of the 8th century, the Late Avar Period (700-791).  A. Róna-Tas, Cs.
