There is a correlation between enthusiasm for the theory of relativity and political views, and there is an unmistakable effort to censor or ostracize criticism of relativity.  Physicist Robert Dicke of Princeton University was a prominent skeptic towards the theory of evolution and that may have hurt him professionally.  He invented the lock-in amplifier and verified the existence of  left-over radiation from the Big Bang but was never awarded the Nobel Prize for either remarkable work, which many felt he deserved.
