:Not exactly. I'm asking as a Christian to another Christian(s) as to how much politics should be a part of my life, or if they should even be apart of it at all. I mean while the founders of this great nation used God's principles to create a system of government that ensured rights, liberty, and freedom--is it wrong or vain to wish to inform, protect, or care about my country when Christ called us to spread his Word and not (unless I'm mistaken) deal with lesser matters in regard to such (political) things. This is where I'm confused about whether I should become even somewhat active within politics or simply disregard it entirely to focus on Christianity. - gravis57, August 8, 2011

:It's not wrong, and it's not vain, to wish to inform, protect or care about your country. It's part of serving one's country, part of helping people. There are many varied ways that you can help and serve people, and God. Christ called us not just to spread his Word, but to serve. 'For the son of God came not to be served, but to serve.' Can you serve God by becoming involved in politics? Maybe. Could you help people by becoming involved in politics, and by getting Congress to give them what they need? Or would it be better for you to serve another way? If you did become involved in politics, would it make it more difficult for you to serve God? I guess my general point is this: you can still serve God and the people by becoming involved in politics, but whether or not that is the best place for you to serve is a different matter. I'm starting to think that I might not be able to give you as good of an answer as you're looking for. Hopefully someone else will see this and help answer your question.
