It stars Chris Meloni as Det. Elliott Stabler and Mariska Hargitay as Det. Olivia Benson. Stabler is a good conservative family man, he hates pedophiles and often beats them violently on the show. The premise of SVU is about sex offences and the prosecution of them. Benson often bonds with the victims if they survive and Stabler beats perps senseless. The show is extremely popular, partially because of Stabler's crazy antics. The show often has humourous moments as well, such as when Ice-T's character makes wisecracks at some of the perps. The show is criticized by liberals because of the violence done to some of the criminals by the characters and for portraying crime as the criminal's fault, not socieity's.
