The film was released by [[20th Century Fox]] in 1975. The film was not a success. Then, Fox tried to put it with [[Phantom of the Paradise]] and released on collage campuses. It was still not a big hit. However, it started to be released as a midnight movie, with people absolutly loving the film. People would go and "act out" the film. To this day, the film has never been pulled from theaters, and it is still showed as a midnight movie. It is the longest running movie today.<br />
