Chuck's Christian name was Carlos Ray Norris.  He was born in Oklahoma to hard working conservative parents and he is named after his father's minister.  He is part Cherokee.  He served with distinction in the USAF where he got his nickname "Chuck" and a black belt in martial arts.  In 1958 he married his wife Dianne Holechek.  They had two kids.
