== Spartans ==
It's probably going a bit far to say the Spartans were the finest soldiers in the world. They were definitely the finest heavy infantry in the world but they were a bit of a one-trick pony: they didn't tend to do so well when the enemy could deploy cavalry or light infantry against them, because tehir phalanx was pretty unwieldy. Of course at Thermopylae their skills were exactly what was needed, which is why they did so well. --[[User:FindlayT|FindlayT]] 12:26, 21 September 2011 (EDT)
