Tours was a city in France that was the seat of many councils of the early Christian church after the fall of the Roman Empire. The most significant of these councils was the Second Council of Tours in A.D. 567, at which the celebration of Christmas in the West on December 25th was combined with the celebration of the Epiphany in the East on January 6th, to form the Twelve Days of Christmas.
