One thing worth mentioning about his views is that they are actually crafted by his own mind to fit in his plan for the world, because the theory of evolution is never claiming that the strongest one survives, but rather that the one who is well-adapted to it's respective environment does survive. That does not have to do with strength, since some animals are tougher than elephants, at certain occasions, for example.
