Several laws supported by United States conservatives such as laws banning gay marriage and abortions are based on Christianity. This goes against the idea of separation of church and state which has become a principle of the U.S. Also while conservatives seem to promote government leaving the people alone they support bans on pornography and other things that should be up to the person as it is their right to do things that do not harm others with out the government stepping in. While they support a ban on gay marriage that does not have any effect on others (as it does not take away the sanctity of marriage as a large percentage of marriages end in devorce) they do not support government regulation in corrupt corporations.
