'''Yellow Submarine''' is a Beatles song written by [[Paul McCartney]], with lead vocals by [[Ringo Starr]]. Written as a singalong for children, it first appeared on [[Revolver]] in 1966, and was later included on the Yellow Submarine movie soundtrack album in 1969.
The title of the song became the basis of a 1968 animated psychedelic film directed by George Dunning.

A G Rated, 1968 animated psychedelic film directed by George Dunning. While The Beatles declined to play themselves in the film, their singing voices are heard, and they make a live-action appearance at the end of the film. The movie was largely a success, and The Beatles were happy with Dunning's work.
The plot of the film involves The Beatles being recruited to rescue Pepperland, an idyllic musical wonderland, from an invasion of Blue Meanies, a bizarre collection of music-hating creatures. The Beatles travel to Pepperland in a yellow submarine, starting from London, and making their way through the Sea of Time, the Sea of Science, the Sea of Monsters, the Sea of Nothing, and the Sea of Holes. Along the way, they meet a peculiar "Nowhere Man" named Jeremy.

The soundtrack for the film, this has been widely considered to be the least essential release in the Beatles catalog, because of the re-released material, combined with a collection of orchestral music by George Martin.
