Sin as defined by the new testament is found in 1st John 3:4, "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law; for sin is the transgression of the law." (KJV) There are many scriptures that give testimony to the punishment for sin, Rom 6:23 for example, lets us know the wages of sin is death, but the basic definition of sin is breaking Gods law.
