He was baptized 14 April 966 which started the Christianization of Poland and is considered as the beggining of history of the Polish state. He was father of [[Bolesław the Brave]] (Polish: ''Bolesław Chrobry''), the first crowned King of Poland. Mieszko likely was also father of Nordic Queen Sigrid the Haughty and grandfather of her son, [[Canute|Canute the Great]] the King of [[England]].
