[[Helen Gahagan Douglas]] was an actress and wife of actor [[Melvyn Douglas]]. She was a Democratic Congresswoman from California who ran as a Democrat against [[Richard Nixon]] for the U.S. Senate in 1950.
[[Charlotte Thompson Reid]] was a singer on Don McNeill's Breakfast Club. Her husband won the Republican nomination for Congress, but died before the election and Reid stepped in as the nominee.
