|Both players advanced to the semifinals, where Murray defeated Djokovic in straight sets. Murray defeated Roger Federer of Switzerland for the gold in straight sets, while Djokovic underperformed and lost to Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina in the bronze medal match.  Murray then went on to play in the following mixed doubles match and medalled silver with Laura Robson, losing to the heavily favoured Mirnyi and Azarenka.
