Spreading

Spreading is a rhetorical strategy used by debaters, such as attorneys. The method is to overload the opponent with a mass of information of dubious (or nonexistent) factuality, all of which the opponent must then refute. The goal is to bog the opponent down, especially in a scenario with limited time, to obtain victory by sheer confusion.

In essence, the tactic is similar to a filibuster, another rhetorical strategy that exploits limited time scenarios.
